Mixing concrete to different strengths

Posted by bcsands

Different applications for concrete require different strengths, measured in megapascals, or MPas. The chart below shows the proportionate amounts of the various concrete ingredients needed to get to a specific MPa.

Figures in the MPa columns show the approximate number of 20kg bags of general purpose cement needed.
Water quantity is critical when making concrete – the final consistency should be like a thick custard, rather than a watery soup.
